Today, the internet is critical infrastructure that is relied upon by businesses, schools, hospitals, governments, and people everywhere. The COVID-19 pandemic, in particular, has only further demonstrated this. Yet as of 2020, at least 1-in-6 households in Maine still lacked access.

Maine’s economic future will depend on its ability to offer high-speed connectivity that is universally available throughout the state. The Maine Connectivity Authority is pursuing a number of initiatives to facilitate this.
