High-speed Broadband for Maine

The Maine Connectivity Authority (MCA) is committed to expanding access to reliable, high-speed and affordable internet service statewide.

MCA has three primary goals:

  1. Expand effective, accessible connectivity in every part of the state;

  2. Support the creation of secure, affordable, reliable, competitive, sustainable and forward-looking internet infrastructure that can meet future needs; and

  3. Ensure that all residents, businesses and institutions in Maine be able to take full advantage of the economic, health, educational and other opportunities available through connectivity services.

Focusing on projects, places and people, the MCA is advancing digital equity for all Mainers.

Established in 2021, MCA is a quasi-governmental agency charged with achieving universal access to affordable high-speed broadband in Maine.

New Launch: Maine Connectivity Resource Exchange!

The Maine Connectivity Resource Exchange is MCA's home to resources and knowledge to support, enable, and empower municipal and Tribal governments, nonprofit organizations, subgrantees, and the public on all aspects of the broadband ecosystem in Maine.

Roles (8).png

The first module that we are launching is in support of the upcoming BEAD State-Led Challenge Process. This module contains 7 units that will work to guide our partners through this several months-long process. This process in particular will engage local, municipal, and Tribal governments, internet service providers (ISPs), nonprofit organizations and individuals.

As of March 1, MCA is still waiting for NTIA approval of our BEAD Initial Proposal, Volume 1. With that, the dates outlined in this module are still tentative, and some links are not yet active. We cannot begin the State-Led Challenge Process until we receive that approval. We are all patiently waiting to get started and we will let you know when it's time to go!
