Officials announce grant to give internet for all Mainers

This money will go towards creating an action plan for the state to provide high-speed internet, targeting communities that would need such services.

WATERVILLE — “Every person who wants reliable and affordable internet connection can have one by the end of 2024. That is my promise.”

That promise comes on the hands of President Biden’s historic $65 billion investment in providing affordable and high speed connection to communities across the United States.

The money allows Maine Connectivity Authority to continue its promise in a meaningful way.

“Today, we’re excited to announce that Maine is receiving an initial grant of $5.5 million to plan for the deployment and adoption of internet throughout the state,” said April McClain-Delaney, Deputy Assistant Secretary for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.
