Celebration of Maine's Broadband Funding

On June 29th, Maine Connectivity Authority held a press conference and celebration at the University of Maine, Augusta, discussing the State of Broadband in Maine and two major broadband and digital equity awards from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) that will expand access to high-speed, affordable, reliable internet in Maine.

We want to extend a big thank you to Governor Janet Mills, U.S. Senator Angus King, NTIA Associate Administrator Douglas Kinkoph, Ellie Espling from U.S. Senator Susan Collins' Office, and Somerset County's Broadband Director, Liz Caruso for sharing their remarks, and the incredible continued vision and support of this work. Topics included Maine's recent $30 million MOOSE Net Middle Mile award as well as the state's $272 million Broadband Equity Access Deployment (BEAD) allocation. The guests above were joined by representatives of Rep. Chellie Pingree and Rep. Jared Golden, the University of Maine System, the Maine Connectivity Authority team and many local and statewide partners.

We were excited to take a moment to celebrate these collective wins for Maine as we all continue this critical work across the state!
