Sec. Lutnick vows to revamp Biden program to bring high-speed internet to Mainers

The U.S. Secretary of Commerce says it’s revamping a Biden administration program to bring high speed internet to Americans.

PORTLAND (WGME) – The U.S. Secretary of Commerce says it’s revamping a Biden administration program to bring high speed internet to Americans.

In a statement, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said he plans to review the Broadband, Equity, Access and Deployment program.

Lutnick claims that because of the administration’s "woke mandates" and favoritism toward certain technology, the program has not connected anyone to the internet.

There are 26,000 locations, 4 percent of the locations in the state, that are ready and waiting for this investment, and that's on top of the almost 90,000 other locations that are in a state of buildout and connectivity," Maine Connectivity Authority President Andrew Butcher said.
